"I heard the voice of the Lord, God saying, 'whom shall I send,
'and 'who will for us?' then I said, "here am I, send me."
~ Isaiah 6:9
Second Term: January 7 - May 20, 2008
Church School classes provide an opportunity for the young people and their teachers to explore the parameters of the Christian Faith through engagement with Scripture, the tradition of the Church, and one another. "The faith once delivered to the saints" (Jude 3) is being passed on from one generation to the next in a dynamic process that is meant to motivate all members of the community to delve more deeply into the richness of our God and of our Church.
Nursery
Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers on Sundays throughout the year from 8:30 a.m. through 1:00 p.m.
Located on the second floor of the parish Hall, the Nursery offers a quiet and attractive setting for our youngest
members to play, nap, and get to know each other in a supervised setting.
Godly Play
Have you ever sat and watched a child really play? The total involvement children exhibit, combined with their
ability to plunge fully into their imaginings and become part of the story, offers a window into another world. St.
John's children's spiritual formation program, Godly Play, creates a joyful, sacred space for children to play their
way into God's presence. Through story telling, wondering time to explore the story, and work time to respond to the
story through art or other play, our children learn the history, tradition, liturgy, sacred stories and parables of
our church. Godly Play offers children a sacred counterpoint to the busy secular world they inhabit; it provides
them with a vocabulary for what they already know about God's presence in their lives; and it builds a faith
community in which they can explore existential issues of life and death in the context of God's love and grace.
We welcome children from ages 3-6 at 10:00.
Living the Good News
Also at 10:00, this excellent program is offered for young perople from the ages of 7 through 12. It is based on the lessons that are heard in church on a given Sunday allowing our young people to reflect on what they heard. We also engage in activities that express their creative reactin to these stories.
Teen group
Our teens meet with parish volunteers at 10:00 to discuss issues of importance to our adolescent members.
