Adult Education/Adult Forum

2007-2008

At

St. John’s Episcopal Church

The Adult Forum takes place most Sundays between September and May just after 10:00 a.m. in The Chapel of the Carpenter.  While our younger members are being introduced to the Christian story in Sunday School, adults gather in the Chapel for a more in-depth discussion of our faith. The goal of these forums is to inform us about Christian history, theology, and practice.  It is hoped that this knowledge will help to inform us about who we are as Christians and how we are called to live our faith in our community and the world.

This year the topics for the Adult Forums have been chosen from suggestions offered by parishioners.  A wide spectrum of issues from theology to practical ministry will be addressed.  During Advent, adults and young people will learn together through joint activities and shared stories.  We will also explore other faith traditions even as we learn how to live more faithfully into our own Christian ministries.

Additional Education Programs

A book group meets periodically to discuss works that are thought provoking and make us probe our faith more deeply.

A Lenten Bible study program will take place on five consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  This year we will experience what Jesus Christ meant for the New Testament authors: Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, and Paul. This program will begin on Tuesday, 12 February and run through 10 March.
